MATCH PREVIEW: Bradford City vs. Oldham Athletic

5 December 2017

Oldham Athletic are back on the road this evening as they take on Bradford City in the second round of the Checkatrade Trophy (7.30pm kick off).

After a disappointing defeat on Saturday, Richie Wellens’ men will be looking to put that result right as they head to the Northern Commercials Stadium tonight.

A goal in either half secured Southend United victory on Saturday, whilst two consecutive goalless draws have halted Athletic’s rise up the Sky Bet League One table.

However, attention turns to the cup this evening and Wellens is expected to make changes to the side.

Midfielder Jack Byrne will miss the game through suspension after picking up two bookings already in the competition.

He may be persuaded to switch up his forward line after firing three blanks recently with Tope Obadeyi and Gevaro Nepomuceno waiting in the wings.

Ryan McLaughlin returned to training last week and could be in contention for a recall whilst winger Gyamfi Kyeremeh is still a few weeks away from regaining full fitness.

Bradford City come inot the game on the back of an FA Cup second round victory on Saturday as they beat fellow Sky Bet League One side Plymouth Argyle.

They currently sit in the play-off places in the division and recently in the league, the two sides played out a 1-1 draw.

Sky Bet have listed Athletic as outsiders for the match at 21/10 with the visitors 6/4 to win.

In-form strikers Eoin Doyle and Craig Davies are both priced at 4/1 to score the opening goal of the match.
