MATCH PREVIEW: Bury vs. Oldham Athletic

9 March 2018

It’s Derby Day tomorrow afternoon as Oldham Athletic travel to Gigg Lane to take on Bury.

It’s set to be an electric atmosphere with Latics fans taking up two stands behind both goals.

2,200 tickets have been sold in the West Stand whilst supporters can pay on the day in the East Stand tomorrow afternoon.

Latics head into the game four games without a defeat and have picked up 10 points from a possible 12.

Last week, Athletic beat Scunthorpe United 0-2 at Glanford Park courtesy of two second half goals from Patrick McEleney and Eoin Doyle.

Doyle marked his return with a solo strike into the bottom corner to win the game and secure Athletic the victory.

Bury have currently only lost one game in their last seven, and that was against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

They have picked up three points in their last game against Gillingham and they have yet to lose at home since January 13.

The Shakers currently sit bottom of Sky Bet League One and have picked up 29 points from 34 games.

Speaking ahead of the game, Paul Terry said: “The fans have been brilliant all season. Home and away they have been superb but you look at the last two away games especially, Blackburn and Scunthorpe, they have been the 12th man for us.

“They have been singing from the moment we go out to warm up to the final minute and it gives the players a lift knowing that the fans are there and right behind you.

“From the staff point of view, we can hear them the whole game and it gives everyone a lift so we appreciate their support and we need it until the end of the season.

“Let’s stick by the boys, get behind the team and hopefully we can get where we need to get.”

Sky Bet have listed Athletic as outsiders for tomorrow’s game at 19/10 whilst the hosts are 6/4.
