Oldham Athletic travel to the DW Stadium tomorrow afternoon (1pm kick off) to face in-form Wigan Athletic.

Latics head into the game on the back of a two-week break following last weekend’s postponement due to international call ups.

That came at a time where Athletic’s five game unbeaten run came to an end against Portsmouth at home.

Two first half goals from Brett Pitman secured them the victory, however, following that game and a free week, they remain outside the relegation places with three games in hand on certain clubs around them.

Richie Wellens’ men have not lost away from home since the 3-0 away defeat at Peterborough United earlier this season.

Wigan Athletic have not lost in the league since February 13 and have picked up 14 points from a possible 18 available in their last six games. They last fell to defeat against Blackpool at the DW Stadium.

They boast three players who have reached double figures for the season, Will Grigg, Nick Powell and Michael Jacobs, and defenders Dan Burn and Chey Dunkley have chipped in with 10 goals between them this season.

Wigan are the top goalscorers in the division and will be a tough opposition for Latics.

Speaking ahead of the game, Wellens said: “Paul Cook is a tremendous manager at this level and he was successful last season with Portsmouth and then he went to Wigan and carried the momentum on.

“He’s got great tools to work with and there will be no surprises at the way his team plays, they’re a really good team.

“They’ve got players with a mentality of being used to winning every week at this level.

“They’ve got seven or eight players that previously won this league last time they were here and they’ve got players that have played in the Championship so we’re expecting a tough game.”
