MATCH PREVIEW: Rotherham United vs. Oldham Athletic

22 September 2017

Oldham Athlettake on Rotherham United at the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday, September 23, 3pm kick-off.

Both teams came unstuck against high-flying sides in last weekend’s fixtures, but in the case of the Millers, this was their only loss in their last four matches.

Rotherham’s 1-0 defeat to Bradford came on the back of an emphatic 5-1 victory against Walsall, which included a Lee Frecklington hat-trick.

Oldham Athletic were also on the wrong end of a 1-0 deficit, but continued with the positive play they have shown throughout September, with Craig Davies netting in a fourth successive game.

Latics manager John Sheridan revealed his thoughts on the opposition in his pre-match press conference, which can be viewed in its entirety courtesy of iFollow Latics: “Rotherham are a strong outfit.

"They have had some good results and then some poor results but they’re at home and they’ll be looking at us, playing bottom of the league and thinking that there’s a good chance of getting three points.

“If I look at us, we are improving, we look better and are creating chances so I’ve just got to hope we start winning games.

“I think we have improved a lot over the last few games, I’ve just got to keep faith in what I’m doing which I will do.”

Sheridan will not have star signing Eoin Doyle at his disposal on Saturday, but Temitope Obadeyi, Robert Hunt, Abdelhakim Omrani are all now available for selection.

The home side who are favourites at 8/13, while Sky Bet have Latics at 17/4 and the draw at 29/10.
