Latics fell to defeat away at Eastleigh thanks to Danny Whitehall’s 72nd minute strike.
Oldham started the game well, having the best share of possession, but no clear-cut chances were created.
The homeside were more lively in the second-half, and went ahead with Whitehall’s curling shot beating Norman from the edge of the area.
The first major chance of the game came when John Rooney’s pierced the Eastleigh wall with a free-kick, but his effort went inches wide of the goal.
Rooney would get on the end of another chance, just after the half-hour mark.
Mark Kitching’s cross took a deflection and fell to Rooney, whose shot was nudged away from the bottom corner, and onto the post.
Rooney swung a free-kick from a dangerous position, Fondop stuck a leg out, but didn’t make clean contact to divert it towards goal.
The home side took the lead when Whitehall picked the ball up outside the box and found the bottom corner with a curled effort.
Devarn Green and Timmy Abraham came on, as Latics looked for an equaliser, but to no avail.
