Oldham and Chester will contest a replay at The Deva following a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round.
It was a dream start for Latics, Mike Fondop received the ball from a Jordan Clarke pass, and smashed the ball past Tyrer.
Chester looked to respond, and had a good chance when Danny Devine’s cross fell to Anthony Dudley, but his scissor-kick volley went over the bar.
Chester piled on the pressure in the second-half, and found an equaliser from Declan Weeks’ corner which was headed home by Harrison Burke.
Latics pushed to retake the lead, but couldn’t as the game came to a close, with the game ending 1-1.
Oldham went ahead early on, Dan Gardner’s pass found Clarke on the right-flank, with his cross finding Fondop who fired home from close-range.
Chester had their spell in control following the goal, but failed to create any huge chances from it, as Norman wasn’t troubled much.
Latics came back into the game, with Tollitt laying off Gardner on the edge of the box, but his shot was deflected just wide of the goal.
James Carragher created an opportunity from the back, he ran through the Chester midfield with his powerful shot going over the bar.
Latics went in at half-time a goal to the good.
Junior Luamba came on in place of Clarke, with Luke Burgess replacing the injured Mitchell Roberts just after the second-half kicked-off.
Chester controlled large parts of the second-half as they looked for an equaliser, Declan Weeks was found on the edge of the area, but it went well wide of the goal.
The Seals got their goal with just under 15 minutes left of the tie, Weeks’ corner landed on the head of Harrison Burke, who put it past Norman.
Oldham looked to win the tie at the death, but despite their best efforts, Chester held on, and they’ll travel to Cheshire for the replay.
