Oldham Athletic concluded their pre-season campaign with a 3-0 defeat at home to Mansfield Town.
Lucas Akins opened the scoring with a shot from inside the box, before he doubled the visitors’ lead early in the second-half.
Rhys Oates struck again moments later, curling an effort into the far corner, giving the Stags the victory.
Mike Fondop caused problems for Mansfield early on, forcing Christy Pym to get down and block his effort.
Latics had a great opportunity when Joe Nuttall received the ball and threaded through the advancing Dan Ward, who was unable to get a shot on target as his shirt was being tugged.
Mansfield took the lead through Akins, he found the near post from inside the box, beating Magnus Norman.
Latics looked for an equaliser, winning a series of corners just before half-time, but Town defended well.
Akins got his and Mansfield’s second during the 52nd minute, finding the corner after receiving Boateng’s cross.
It went from bad to worse for Athletic when Rhys Oates darted into the box, and curled home a nice shot from just inside the box.
Latics looked for a way back into the game, Dan Ward had a shot blocked and a second saved, before Alex Reid looked to poke home the awkward follow-up, but he failed to hit the target.
Norman kept the score down when he denied Aaron Lewis with a great save from inside the box.
