30 August 2012

Dean in South Africa squad

Dean Furman is celebrating after being called into the South Africa 25-man squad for two internationals next month.

It is going to be a busy start to September as the midfield man will be travelling to Brazil and South Africa.

Furman, whose only other involvement with the senior squad was as an unused substitute against Australia in 2008, will be heading to Sao Paolo for the friendly international against Brazil on Friday, September 7th.

The Brazil squad, already announced, includes the likes of Neymar, Thiago Silva and many of their star players.

Then four days later he will be featuring in another friendly against Mozambique in Mbombela Stadium, South Africa.

Furman (24) is one of seven new players named in the squad which includes himself and Everton's Steven Pienaar among four English-based players.

The only down side for Latics is that Furman will miss next week's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Chesterfield as well as the npower League One match at Doncaster Rovers.

Keep logging on to the official website for reaction from Furman and also Paul Dickov.
