Smith scores consolation
Matt Smith scored for Latics' reserves who lost 2-1 to Hull City in a behind-closed doors game against Hull City at Chapel Road.Latics deserved their 1-0 half-time advantage which was given to them when Smith (pictured) showed a great touch on the edge of the box before firing home a low shot.
Once Latics began to make changes in the second half they became disjointed conceding two goals in quick succession.
Manager Paul Dickov described the game as a "good exercise" for the squad players who needed match action as well as the trialists he wanted to cast a gaze over.
