Manager praises resilience
Paul Dickov is delighted with the steel Latics have displayed pre-season.They have kept four clean sheets from six matches to the delight of Latics' manager.
He said: "Again against Huddersfield on Saturday we were defensively sound which has been a massive plus.
"The back five (goalkeeper and defence) have done well throughout pre-season and that has been a massive plus.
"I think we have a resilience not to be beaten which we haven't had in my two other seasons as manager."
Dickov says the final week of pre-season will be about fine tuning, but his players are ready and cannot wait for the season to start.
Latics reserves will play two behind-closed doors friendlies this week against Hull City and Newcastle.
Dickov says the objective will be to give squad players match action and also take a look at a number of trialists.
