The cost of away-day travel


Latics' fans will travel 6,248.2 miles, travelling for 6868 minutes and spend £1,175.02 on fuel travelling to away matches this season according to new research from credit card company Capital One, new sponsors of the Capital One Cup.


Across the divisions, fans of League Two’s Plymouth Argyle will travel the furthest to away games this season, covering 11,068 miles cheering their team at all the away fixtures, travelling for nearly 200 hours and spending over £2,000 on fuel.

The Capital One Cup Football Travel Index reveals fans in League Two journeying to all away league games will travel on average 25% further during the season than fans of Premier League clubs.

Fans of League Two sides will drive 7,238 miles this season supporting their clubs at away games, travelling 131 hours to watch their side in action and spending £1,360 on fuel.  Premier League fans on average will cover 5,806 miles of road to away matches, clocking up 106 hours and spending £1,084.
