Latics transfer

30 August 2012

College switch for scholars

Latics' scholars today had their induction at Oldham College where they will be studying for a BTech Level Three Diploma in Sport.

It is a new venue as in previous years the trainees have had to travel to Bury College.

Head of Youth Tony Philliskirk requested the move for geographic reasons.

He explained: "We would take the scholars to Bury by mini bus, but they would have to find their own way home which often meant catching two or three buses and taking up to two hours.

"It is first time Oldham College have been able to accommodate us, but it is much better for the boys in terms of having less travelling.

"We are just hoping they are as good a provider as Bury College who were excellent."

The scholars study will be studying on a Monday morning at Boundary Park's Laticzone then all day on Thursday at Oldham College.

The training programme is partly funded by League Football Education.
