Matchday club kicks off

The club, which is being run in partnership between Oldham Athletic Community Trust and Laticzone Study Centre, is a new initiative to Boundary Park, a matchday club for children aged between six and 12 years.

Saturday's home match against Stevenage Town saw the new OAFC Matchday Club get under way.  don`t have to be a Latics' fan to join in the fun and the club is open to anyone.

 

As part of the club children also received a free ticket to watch Latics v Stevenage, which they viewed with the Matchday Club staff.

Despite the gloomy weather, the first Matchday Club was a huge success, packed full of different activities for the children to enjoy, including taking part in an exclusive ground tour of Boundary Park.

The club only costs £5 per match and will involve both football coaching and different themed activities held in the Laticzone Study Centre, some of these activities include:

        · * Creating tannoy announcements to be played on matchdays (enjoy the match)


        · * Creating new signs/posters for around the family area of the ground


        · * Designing t-shirts for the players to wear pre-match (kick it out)

Animation filming/music and advert making

        · *Healthy eating workshops, where the children can prepare their own healthy meal


        · *Football coaching pre-match by fully qualified and CRB Trust coaches




Other activities include meeting Chaddy the Owl and Latics' players pre-match, having the opportunity to accompany the players out of the tunnel and acting as flag bearers at selected games, as well as this there is the chance to play in half-time football sessions on the Boundary Park pitch.



The children are then be escorted to the family section of Boundary Park where they will enjoy the match with their free complimentary junior match ticket, accompanied by the Matchday Club staff. Parents can then pick their children up from Laticzone at 5pm.

Club members arrive at Boundary Park at 12:45pm and take part in the different activities, delivered by FA Qualified and CRB checked staff from both OACT and Laticzone.
