We were lucky to win admits reserve-team manager
Lee Duxbury pinpointed Latics' clinical finishing as the key to the 2-1 reserve-team win at Burton Albion.Second-half goals from Youssouf M'Changama and Daniel Taylor earned Latics victory in the Central League, West Division (Divisional) match at St George's Park.
"A fair result would have been a draw, but we took our chances," was the reserve-team manager's honest appraisal of his side's performance.
Duxbury described it as a good workout against an experienced Burton side with a pace and intensity seldom seen in reserve-team matches.
He said: "Burton made it difficult for us which makes the win even more pleasing.
"It was a good, physical battle, but an honest game with both sides having chances."
Duxbury added there were some good individual performances.
He was especially pleased with Kirk Millar, Carl Winchester and M'Changama in midfield where Winchester was outstanding.
Duxbury was also pleased with keeper Liam Jacob and also the way scholar Joe Cooper handled playing against an experienced striker like Justin Richards.
"I was delighted with all departments because everybody played well," he said.
