Latics injury update

16 December 2012

Latest on Cisak, Byrne

Alex Cisak and Cliff Byrne were Latics' casualties in yesterday's home npower League One defeat by Swindon Town.

Goalkeeper Cisak (pictured leaving the pitch) had seven stitches inserted into a deep, vertical gash to his forehead.

There was a five-minute stoppage after Cisak was hurt following a sickening collision with Swindon striker Andy Williams.

Club doctor Rob Beardsell was summoned onto the pitch along with stewards carrying a stretcher.

Happily Cisak was able to leave the field on foot holding a towel to his forehead to stem the flow of flood.

Byrne, meanwhile, was forced off after only quarter of an hour with a back problem.

He jarred his back making a challenge and it went into spasms meaning he was unable to continue.
