It's all in Latics' cause
Youssouf M'Changama and Matt Smith gave blood - literally - for Latics' cause in the Boxing Day home npower League One defeat by Doncaster Rovers. Both players needed cuts stitching, but each insisted on continuing.
M'Changama gashed his knee in the opening half after a challenge with Rovers' Paul Quinn and Dr James Weems inserted three stitches.
The midfield man continued with his right knee heavily bandaged.
Initially it looked more serious as club doctor Rob Beardsell and paramedics carrying a stretcher dashed to M'Changama's assistance.
But after treatment he continued with his knee bandaged.
Smith received a nasty gash above his eye (pictured) following a clash of heads with Rovers' central-defender Rob Jones.
He went off in the 36th minute and Dr Beardsell inserted 10 stitches with Smith not reappearing until the start of the second period.
Manager Paul Dickov praised both players saying their eagerness to carry on epitomises the spirit in the group of players.
