Taylor is Latics' super-sub

Daniel hits late winner

Substitute Daniel Taylor scored a late winner for Latics' reserves in their 2-1 victory at Burton Albion in Central League, West Division (Divisional).

Taylor (pictured) struck with five minutes left as Latics snatched maximum points at St Geroge's Park.

In a low-key opening period, Latics' keeper Liam Jacob made good saves to deny Jack Dyer and Matty Palmer while Latics ought to have been awarded a penalty on the stroke of half time when Matt Smith was clearly pushed over in the box.

Latics took the lead in the 50th minute when Yousouf M'Changama scored with a well struck free kick.

Burton quickly equalised when Dyer's corner was converted at the far post by Justin Richards who was left unmarked.

They came close to taking the lead when substitute Marcus Harness struck the upright.

Latics finished strongly as Taylor stole behind the Brewers' defence but shot over while Carl Winchester and Taylor were both denied by super saves from Ross Atkins.

The winner came in the 85th minute when Millar, not for the first time, provided a telling cross from the right leaving Taylor with a simple tap in at the far post.
