My players are being targeted says manager
Paul Dickov is mystified how his side has racked up nine suspensions before the end of November having bizarely been complimented about the behaviour of his players."I cannot remember one bad tackle all season and we had two further bookings in the first half at Doncaster which baffled me," explained Latics' manager.
Dickov said: "Believe it or not I am a big advocate of the players staying on their feet and playing the right way.
"I go to referees' meetings and get complimented on the behaviour of my teams and how we don't dive and stay on our feet.
"What's the point when you see the likes of Jose Baxter, Lee Croft and Cristian Montano getting targeted every game and being kicked out of it and nothing being done about it.
"I may as well go out and tell them to dive and roll around on the floor as other teams do."
Dickov called for more protection from referees for his players in the wake of his claim that Latics' dangermen are being deliberately targeted by opponents.
