Latics' injury update

26 November 2012

Latest news on Simpson, Tarkowski

Injured pair Robbie Simpson (pictured) and James Tarkowski won't be ready to play for Latics in tomorrow's npower League One match at Doncaster Rovers.

Manager Paul Dickov says neither player will be available for the first of two games in the space of four games against Doncaster.

Simpson is recovering well from the groin injury which he has rested for the last week and according to Latics' manager could be ready for Saturday's FA Cup with Budweiser, second-round tie against Doncaster Rovers.

Dickov revealed Simpson had soldiered on for some weeks with the problem but had been reluctant to sit out games as he was keeping captain Dean Furman out of the side.

Centre-back Tarkowski, who has had a history of foot problems since joining Latics, has been complaining of discomfort and the decision has been taken that the injury needs rest.

On a positive note, top scorer Jose Baxter and winger Cristian Montano will be available tomorrow after serving one-match bans on Saturday.
