Deal agreed with club, but agent scuppers move
Paul Dickov was left frustrated after a deal to bring in a player from a Premier League club collapsed 20 minutes before last night's emergency loan transfer deadline.Latics' manager had done painstaking work and was convinced the loan would proceed.
He said: "The club had agreed to the move and were paying the players' wages and I thought it was a done deal.
"It was only when the player's agent became involved that it didn't happen.
"We have worked hard to persuade the club to let us have the player and I don't think agents understand that. To pull the plug was disappointing and frustrating."
Latics and other Football League clubs cannot make temporary signings until the transfer window reopens in on January 1st.
