Latics' tribute to the fallen

8 November 2012

Remembrance Day commemorated

Latics will have a Remembrance Day tribute at Saturday's home match against npower League One leaders Tranmere Rovers.

The players will wear their blue kit which has had poppies printed on each shirt to remember the fallen two World Wars and other conflicts.

Members of the joint personnel - Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy - will be collecting at the turnstiles before kick off.

Then at half time there will be a tribute inside Boundary Park.

An Air Training Corps band will march from the car park on the Broadway side on to the pitch.

Flag bearers representing the Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale and Ashton Air Training Corps, along with buglers, will march around the pitch perimeter before lining up around the centre circle.

Major Eddie Hardaker will then escort Chelsea Pensioners Dennis Shields on to the pitch when the flags will be lowered and the Last Post sounded by the buglers.
