Youngsters suffer cup blues
Latics' under-18's bowed out of the FA Youth Cup following a 2-0 second-round defeat against Coventry City at Boundary Park.It was a gutsy display by Latics, but the Sky Blues were well drilled and deserved their victory.
Latics, 1-0 down at the break, made a fist of it in an evenly contested second period in which there were chances at both ends.
Alex Gott had a chance to double Coventry's lead midway through the second period, but Latics' keeper Luke Simpson tipped his shot onto the post.
Coventry sealed victory in the 70th minute when Simpson failed to hold a shot from Gott and Ivor Lawton slotted home the rebound.
