Baxter beats injury blues

Robbie Simpson was ruled out of Latics' npower League One match against leaders Tranmere Rovers through a groin strain.

His place went to Dean Furman (pictured) who won a recall to the centre of midfield.

Striker Jose Baxter was passed fit after sustaining a dead leg in the midweek home defeat by Bury.

Furman for Simpson was the one change from the side which kicked off against the Shakers in midweek.

Tranmere had two enforced alterations from the side which started in midweek at Hartlepool where they won 2-0 to reclaim top spot.

Abdulai Bell-Baggie was ruled out through injury and Andy Robinson through injury. Their places went to Joe Thompson and Adam McGurk.

Latics (4-4-2): Bouzanis; Wabara, Byrne, Tarkowski, Grounds; Croft, Wesolowski, Furman, Montano; Derbyshire, Baxter. Subs: Cisak, Brown, Smith, Taylor, M'Changama, Sutherland, Cooper.
