Dickov delight at loan extension
Paul Dickov has spoken of his delight at extending Reece Wabara's loan until 2013.Manchester City have agreed to the 20-year-old defender (pictured) staying until January 5th.
Latics' manager also revealed he is optimistic that Wabara, who arrived in mid-September, may remain at Boundary Park for the remainder of the 2012/13 campaign.
Dickov said of the player who has made 15 first-team appearances for Latics: "Reece has been great and his attitude, both on and off the field, has been superb.
"I am in regular contact with Manchester City who are pleased how he is doing here.
"Reece loves it here and, despite him enjoying it at Manchester City, he is not playing enough there.
"He has reached the age where he needs to be playing games which he is doing here."
Dickov added that a lot of young players are not prepared to leave Premier League clubs for loans at League One clubs like Latics.
He said: "They don't want to drop to League One, but they should be going out to play games and get first-team experience.
"I can never understand why they have that mindset because, if players reach 20/21 years and have no experience, clubs are reluctant to give them a chance."
