Yellow peril for Grounds

Jonathan bids to stay out of trouble

Jonathan Grounds is desperate to avoid a booking for Latics in today's npower League One match at Bournemouth.

The left-back, already handed four yellow cards, is aware that a caution at the Goldstands Stadium will mean missing Tuesday's match at Hartlepool which promises to be a special night as he returns to the North East.

Hartlepool is only a stone's throw away from Thornaby-on-Tees where Grounds (pictured) originates.

Grounds said: "It will definitely be a big game for me with a lot of my family living in the area and they will be coming to the match.

"As I am on four bookings, I will need to watch what challenges I make and which I don't.

"If a challenge is there to be made and I mistime it, that is the risk I take."

Grounds is disappointed by Latics' back to back home defeats against Bury and Tranmere and the way they have failed to build on October's improved form.

"It was a real opportunity to gain ground on team above us in the division," he said.

Grounds believes if Latics cut out individual mistakes, there is no reason why they cannot challenge in the top half of the table.

A major interview with Grounds will appear in next Saturday's matchday programme against Shrewsbury Town.
