First-team recall no formality

Paul Dickov has warned banned central-defender Jean-Yves M'voto that a first-team recall for Latics is no formality at the end of his three-match suspension.

The central defender, sent off on Saturday at Crawley, missed the FA Cup with Budweiser, first-round tie against Kidderminster Harriers and npower League One matches against Bury and Tranmere.

Manager Dickov was delighted with the display of James Tarkowski (pictured) as M'voto's replacement on Saturday saying it is the teenager's place to lose.

He said: "James came is today and, as we have been saying, he is a fantastic professional and didn't put a foot wrong.

"Jean is out for a few games so James can really stake his claim for a place.

"As we have seen recently, I am not scared to leave out my big players."

Dickov was referring to captain Dean Furman, who has been left on the bench for two of the last three matches, and Robbie Simpson who has also been left out of the starting line up.
