Striker to extend loan deal

Matt Derbyshire will be extending his loan with Latics, Paul Dickov has revealed.

Latics' manager made the disclosure at his post match press conference following yesterday's 1-1 draw at Crawley Town.

The Nottingham Forest striker (pictured) is unlikely, however, to feature in Saturday's FA Cup with Budweiser, first-round tie at Kidderminster Harriers.

Dickov added that Derbyshire, whose initial spell ended yesterday, may not be re-signed until the next npower League One game against Bury a week on Tuesday.

He explained Latics will be looking how to maximise the 93 days Derbyshire is permitted to stay with them on loan.

And by sitting the striker out of the cup tie may enable the striker to stay longer.

Dickov explained: "It is a matter of whether we renew Matt's loan before or after the FA Cup tie.

"We have to work out dates. If he plays on Saturday, he will have to go back in mid-December.

"If we can work it right, though, he will be here to January."
