Dickov hands it to keepers

We have two of the best - Latics' manager

Paul Dickov asserts that Latics are in safe hands.

Latics' manager maintains the club has the two best goalkeepers in npower League One.

Alex Cisak started the season between the posts but he has been dislodged for the last three matches by fellow Aussie Dean Bouzanis.

Bouzanis (pictured) has hardly put a foot wrong with Cisak now having a battle on his hands to regain the No 1 spot.

Dickov said: "Dean got his chance because he deserved it. His attitude since pre-season has been fantastic.

"He has worked his socks off to get into the team and did well at Chesterfield (in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy) and was possibly unlucky to lose out after that."

Bouzanis battled back and was restored to the starting line up against Scunthorpe and has now been between the posts for the last four games.

Dickov continued: "We believe as a pair we have the two best keepers in the league.

"When you go through the teams in the division, I don't think you will find a No 1 and No 2, in whatever order, who are of their quality.

"It is making them better because they are pushing each other."

Dickov added that Bouzanis' great strength is his distribution.

He continued: "Dean is very good with the ball at his feet and is a big outlet and gives confidence to the defence.

"When defenders the ball back to him, they know nine out of ten clearances he will hit the right areas."
