Half-time report

26 October 2012

Latics' youngsters on top

Latics under-18's dominated the goalless opening half of their FA Youth Cup tie against Accrington Stanley without making a breakthrough.

The game kicked off 50 minutes late after referee James Price was delayed by a crash on the M62.

Will Kinder and Danny Gossett (pictured) had early chances for Latics, but neither was able to find the target.

Accrington were forced to make two substitutions in the opening 18 minutes through injury.

Latics' goalkeeper Joel Coleman made the first save of the game flinging himself full length to his left to keep out a Joe Clarke header.

Latics finished the half strongly as Carlton McIntosh had a shot deflected just over while John Pritchard brought a fine save from keeper Andrew Dawber who turned his drive over the crossbar.

There was also a substitution for Latics in stoppage time as the injured Kinder was replaced by Haydn Foulds.

Half-time: Latics under-18's 0, Accrington Stanley 0.
