Keeper back from international callDean Furman was not the only Latics' player today returning from international duty.
Slipping completely under the radar was teenage goalkeeper Liam Jacob's call up by Australia under-20's.
Jacob is back from a 10-day training camp in Portugal which is part of their preparations for next month's Asian qualifiers in United Arab Emirates for the under-20's World Cup.
The Latics' shot stopper ought to know in 10-days' time whether he is in the squad for the qualifiers.
Jacob, who has yet to appear in Latics' first team, is hoping he did enough in the training camp to warrant his selection.
He said: "We had two friendlies against Portugal under-20's, who are ranked fourth in the world, and I played half of one of those games.
"I made a number of good saves and conceded two goals in a 4-1 defeat."
Jacob, who only recently celebrated his 18th birthday, says he settled into Aussie under-20 set up describing it as a great experience.
The former Aussie under-17 international, who joined Latics from Manchester United in the summer, is enjoying life at Boundary Park.
He said: "It has been an unbelievable experience.
"The fans may not have seen much of me but the coaching staff have been so good working with me behind the scenes.
"I will keep working hard and hopefully it won't be long before the fans see me in action."
