Cristian celebrates first goal

It was no wonder Cristian Montano was dancing with delight.

The winger opened his goalscoring account for Latics in the 3-1 home npower League One victory against Preston North End.

It was a moment to savour for Montano who is pictured celebrating his goal.

Montano said: "I am over the moon because it was our first home win. We battled and competed well and got what we deserved.

"I was pleased with my first goal and more pleased it was at home and in a win."

Montano added he likes to dance and he will be repeating his celebration each time he scores.

Looking back, Montano says it has been frustrating his first goal did not come earlier.

He said: "I have been shooting and hitting the target but keepers have been making great saves.

"I have kept wondering what I had to do to beat a certain keeper.

"I had another shot and I was over the moon to see it go in."

Montano, who did not have a proper pre-season in the wake of his departure from West Ham, is pleased how he is regaining his sharpness.

He continued: "Not having a pre-season had made it harder for me, but the coaching staff here have made it really easy for me.

"They have worked with me and given me what I have needed to get fit.

"The gaffer has had the trust and belief to play me in every game which I am grateful for.

"That has helped me gain match fitness and I feel I am getting better fitness wise and sharpness with every game."

Montano added that the back-to-back wins against Crewe and Preston have changed everybody's mood and there is a confidence and belief that they can maintain their improved form.
