M'voto injury worry

3 October 2012

Jean-Yves limps out of Crewe victory

Latics are hoping the ankle injury sustained by Jean-Yves M'voto is last night's npower League One victory at Crewe Alexandra is not serious.

The Frenchman was substituted late in the opening half after turning his left ankle, and it was worrying to see the centre half limp off.

Latics' manager Paul Dickov is optimistic the injury is not a bad one and his influential stopper may be fit to face Preston North End on Saturday.

"Jean has had a bad injury to his left ankle before and that is the reason why we brought him off as a precaution," he explained.

M'voto had the injury iced after coming off and the early signs looked encouraging for a speedy return.
