Young players released by Latics

Where are they now?

Two of the teenagers released by Latics in the summer and now playing overseas.

Striker Kyle Riley has accepted a short-term contract with Spanish third division side CF Federico Mayo.

Riley, who has a deal until Christmas, scored three goals in six pre-season friendlies and in three games so far in the league has made one start and two substitute appearances.

Defender Alex Parkes has gone to America where he accepted a four-year scholarship at Notre Dame College, Ohio.

And what of the other trainees who were released last summer?

Winger Ryan Burns is back in Northern Ireland and a first-team regular at Portadown.

Striker Jack Laird is among the goals for Stalybridge Celtic in Blue Square Bet North.

Goalkeeper Dale Connor has signed for Darlington where he has been reunited with former Latics' pair Martin Gray and Sean Gregan who are manager and first-team coach respectively.

Midfield man Danny Bell is still recovering from a cruciate knee ligament injury, but has offers from League of Wales clubs when he regains fitness.

Sam Fitzgerald, another midfielder, is playing nowhere at the moment.
