Bad news, however, for Brown
Latics have succeeded with their appeal to overturn Cliff Byrne's three-man ban.But there is bad news for team-mate Connor Brown, however, as the suspension has been transferred to him.
Latics yesterday submitted an appeal to the Football Association over Byrne's sending off at Portsmouth on Saturday claiming mistaken identity.
The FA considered Latics' submission and viewed footage of the incident.
They confirmed Byrne was not involved and that Brown (pictured) ought to have been sent off for violent conduct.
The FA disciplinary panel has therefore rescinded Byrne's ban and handed it to Brown.
Byrne will, therefore, be eligible for tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Chesterfield.
Brown, meanwhile, will miss tonight's game and league matches against Notts County and Scunthorpe.
