Tranmere edge fixtures

Latics managed only one victory from five Centre of Excellence fixtures against Tranmere Rovers.

The one win was secured by the under-12's who triumphed 5-4.

Kai Hilton gave Latics the lead, but Tranmere hit back to lead 3-1 by the end of the second period.

Two goals from a trialist and a Joe Shenton penalty put Latics 4-3 ahead.

Tranmere made it 4-4 but Harry Quick came up with the matchwinner for Latics.

There was drama with three minutes left when Tranmere were awarded a penalty, but keeper Kieron McCarthy made a fine save.

Tyrese Sinclair and Hilton both had good games for Latics.

All the other games were high scoring encounters.

THE under-14's lost 4-3 after an one stage being 4-0 behind.

Brad Kay launched the fightback for Latics who also scored two further late goals as Tranmere were left clinging on for a narrow victory.

TWO goals from Luca Navarra and one from Joe Aaxon could not stave off a 5-3 defeat for the under-13's.

Latics were 1-0 ahead, but conceded four goals during a disappointing second period before rallying again in the third.

Had Latics taken more of the chances they created, it could well have been a different outcome.

THE under-15's lost 5-3 to Tranmere.

Robson Buckley scored twice and Callum Hughes also found the net.

Latics were 2-0 down, hit back to 3-3 only to concede two late goals.

IT WAS a day to forget for the under-11's who lost 10-0 to Tranmere in what was described as a bad day at the office.

Latics create chances, but every error they made was punished.
