Wabara on Latics' loan move

Reece Wabara is relishing the opportunity of playing regular first-team football during his loan spell with Latics.

The 20-year-old defender says he regrets not moving out on loan earlier in his career with Manchester City.

He explained: "It is important to play every game and probably I should have done it a few years ago.

"I didn't because then I was in and around the first team."

Wabara, who has played once in the Premier League for City, added it has become harder for him at City and he might have to move on to advance his career.

He continued: "City are destined for greatness challenging for the Premier League and Champions League. They are in a transitional period and I am caught in a trap.

"I  need to play every week and put myself in the shop window.

"If I make the breakthrough at City it would be great but, if not, it will have to be elsewhere."

Wabara, who has played as an attacking right back for Latics, is also yearning for a first goal in professional football.

"I have had one disallowed and also should have had a penalty," he said.
