Injury cheer for Latics

11 September 2012

Youngsters receive lift

Latics have received cheer on the injury front concerning four of their scholars.

It was feared Joe Cooper, Haydn Foulds, Danny Gosset and Will Kinder would all be out for lengthy spells.

Foulds, Gosset and Kinder were all hurt in a 10-minute spell during last Saturday's youth-team match against Macclesfield.

It was already known Cooper had a hairline fracture of his ankle, but further tests have revealed he does not need an operation.

Foulds has not broken his ankle as was feared, though there is suspected serious damage to his ankle ligaments.

Gosset was also feared to have a nasty ankle knock, but is hoped he will be back in action within days as opposed to weeks.

Kinder's calf strain is also nowhere near as serious as was feared.

Left-back Joe Edwards, meanwhile, made an excellent debut for Bacup Borough in their 4-0 win against Stone Dynamos at the start of his loan/work experience spell with the North West Counties League side.

Edwards plays again tomorrow for Borough against Colne.
