Latics' abundance of riches

18 September 2012

Manager names 23-man squad

It is a measure of Latics' abundance of riches that Paul Dickov has named a 23-man squad for tonight's home npower League One match against Scunthorpe United.

Apart from Connor Brown, who completes a three-match ban, all of Latics' remaining professionals are included.

Latics' manager has admitted the current squad is the strongest since he took charge at the club and the difficulty is which players to leave out.

The signings of Matt Derbyshire, Jose Baxter and Reece Wabara has made competition for place more fierce than ever.

It will be a special night for Cliff Byrne (pictured with Paul Dickov) as he plays against the club where he spent almost 10 years before he was released in the summer.

Squad: Cisak, Grounds, Wesolowski, M'voto, Tarkowski, Croft, Furman, Derbyshire, Simpson, Montano, Bouzanis, Smith, Byrne, Taylor, Baxter, Millar, M'Changama, Wabara, Hughes, Winchester, Belezika, Sutherland, Mellor.
