Youngster in Saturday's squad
Scholar Chris Sutherland has gone to the top of the class after breaking into Latics' squad for tomorrow's home npower League One match against Notts County.The teenage winger, a second-year trainee, has been rewarded for some sparking showings for the youth and reserve teams.
Manager Paul Dickov paid tribute to Sutherland saying: "Chris has been fantastic in the youth team and also put in a great performance against Hartlepool in the reserves in midweek.
"He is a young boy with pace to burn and it is great to get him involved, though we have to make sure we look after him carefully.
"But, as I have said ever since I became manager, if the kids do well they will get their chance.
"And for our last game at Chesterfield we had six players aged 19 years and under involved that night."
Sutherland takes his place in a 21-man squad which contains new signings Jose Baxter and Matt Derbyshire who are in line for their debuts.
Captain Dean Furman returns from international duty and James Wesolowski after a month-long absence through injury.
