Matt looks ahead with confidence
Matt Smith is confident Latics will get things right on the pitch. The 6ft 6in striker also believes it will not be long before he is back in a scoring groove.
Smith (pictured) has had the misfortune of being denied by wonder saves late in each of the last two games.
They would have earned Latics a win against Scunthorpe and a draw at Brentford.
Of the defeat yesterday at Griffin Park, Smith said: "I thought in terms of possession and endeavour to get forward we were by far the better team and don't think we deserved to lose.
"Once again another sloppy error has cost us, but you can't fault the lads who battled for the whole 90 minutes.
"We are gutted because we felt we deserved to take something from the game as was shown by their keeper (Simon Moore) being named man of the match.
"How he managed to claw out my effort at the end I don't know he managed to do so because I thought it was a goal as soon as it left my head."
Smith believes he was soon back on the goal trail.
He continued: "It is not a case of may be, but soon it will definitely drop for me.
"I will never shy away from getting in those positions because usually I get a couple of chances in a match, even if I only come on as a substitute."
