Latics sad to hear of deaths

Latics have been saddened to learn of the tragic deaths of Michael Holmes and Derek Gent on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand.

Michael was a loyal fan who had supported the club for over 60 years.

His good friend of over 30 years Derek also attended games at Boundary Park.

The two men were near the end of a holiday in Koh Samui when, while out walking, they were hit by a pick up truck which skidded off the road killing them instantly.

Michael leaves his wife Janet, daughters Kirsty Royle and Carolyn Butterworth and son Philip Holmes who is also a Latics' fan as is grandson Dominic Royle.
