Foulds blasts Latics to victory

Haydn Foulds scored a second half hat trick as Latics beat Carlisle 5-1 in the Football League Youth Alliance's North West Conference.

There were also two goals for Jordan Bove as Latics produced possibly their best youth-team display of the season.

According to coach Mick Priest it was a solid all-round performance in which the central-midfield pairing of Michael Brewster and Kyle Hardman were excellent.

Latics went ahead through a Bove penalty which had been won by the same player's persistence.

The doubled their advantage shortly before half time when Bove struck again with a tap in following a good team move.

Latics created enough chances to have been five or six goals to the good.

They added a third goal early soon after the restart when Foulds (pictured) and Brewster linked well with Foulds finding the net with a low shot.

Carlisle got on to the scoresheet after Latics were punished for some sloppy defensive play.

Normal service was soon resumed when Foulds peeled off at the far post to head home a corner.

Foulds completed his hat trick late on with another goal brought about by good team play.
