Cut prices tickets again available
Following the success of Oldham Athletic’s junior season-ticket initiative for season 2012/2013, the club is again offering its young supporters the opportunity to watch a season of football at Boundary Park from as little as £10.
After internal discussions and having listened to fans' representations, the club has decided to restrict the £10 season-ticket offer to those fans under 12 years of age. Junior supporters between 12 and 16 years old can still purchase a season ticket to watch Oldham Athletic for £50.
Chairman, Simon Corney, commented: "
The £10 junior season ticket introduced for last season was hailed as a great success in bringing more young fans to Boundary Park but has brought with it problems that have resulted in increasing anti social behaviour at matches.
"We are still one of the cheapest tickets in the Football league for 12-16 year olds and we would be upset if our fans did not applaud the club for its efforts in making football at Boundary Park attractive and affordable.’
"We still feel that at £50 (which equates to £2.17 per game) this represents tremendous value for our young supporters and hope the fans and parents see it this way.
"However, it has come at a huge cost to the club and although we will continue to subsidise all the junior tickets, it is not practical to maintain a price point of £10 across the board.
"When we launched the £10 season ticket we did so in the hope that this would attract the next generation of fans and, even with the well documented problems we have recently encountered, we consider it to have been a great success.
As a club we try many initiatives, some more successful than others but all in the hope of trying to do what is best for the club and fans.
For season 2013/2014 those supporters under 12 will be able to purchase a season ticket for £10 in either The Verlin Stand or Chadderton Road End when that ticket is purchased in conjunction with an adult or senior season ticket.
Reverting to prices prior to the 2012/2013 season junior fans aged between 12 and 16 will be able to buy season tickets for £50 in The Verlin Stand or Chadderton Road End.
For 2013/2014 the club will be giving young fans the opportunity to purchase a season ticket in the Main Stand for £50 when purchased in conjunction with an adult or senior ticket.
All junior supporters will be required to submit two passport sized photographs and a copy of their birth certificate with their applications.
In addition, all under 12 season ticket holders will automatically be enrolled into the Boundary Blues junior supporters club.
