Millar earns Latics away-day point

Kirk Millar's second-half equaliser earned Latics a 1-1 draw at Leyton Orient in their final npower League One game of the season.

The goal, the first senior strike from the 20-year-old (pictured), cancelled out the Jimmy Smith's effort which had given the O's the lead early in the match.

Latics, 1-0 behind at the break, made a perfect start to the second half as they equalised within 60 seconds.

Cristian Montano dispossessed right-back Leon McSweeney and raced clear on the left.

Jose Baxter turned on Montano's low cross and Millar, sliding in at the far post, converted in off the upright.

Latics' keeper Dean Bouzanis then made a diving save to keep out a header from Jimmy Smith.

Robbie Simpson replaced Croft with 19 minutes left, Latics' first substitution of the match.

That was soon followed by a second switch as Bobby Reid replaced debutant Danny Gosset.

And with 10 minutes left, first-year scholar Jack Truelove was handed his league debut as he took over from Connor Brown.

Latics had a let off in the 81st minute when a long diagonal ball from the left released Dean Cox on the right of the box and his thunderous drive struck the upright.

At the death Latics had three great chances to snatch victory.

Smith's rasping drive was superbly turned over by keeper Jamie Jones and, from the resulting corner, Montano's shot flew narrowly wide.

Then deep into stoppage time, Latics had a breakaway and Montano was released and his drive from the edge of the box forced a stretching save from Jones.

Full time: Leyton Orient 1, Latics 1.
