Youth gets chance

Latics have named seven home-grown players in their squad for tonight's rearranged npower League One fixture at Shrewsbury Town.

David Mellor, Kirk Millar, Connor Hughes (pictured), Carl Winchester, Glenn Belezika, Jose Cooper and Danny Gosset have all come through the youth system at Boundary Park.

And in the case of Springhead-based Cooper, he has been at the club since the age of 10.

Manager Lee Johnson has plenty of experience in the squad as he wants to maintain the winning momentum in the last two games of the season having last weekend finally staved off the threat of relegation.

Defender Cliff Byrne is back in the reckoning after missing the last three games through a groin problem.
