We were magnificent - Priest

Coach Mich Priest described it as "magnificent team performance" by Latics under-18's following their 2-0 win at Walsall in the Football League Youth Alliance's North West Conference.

The Saddlers were striving for second spot in the league which reinforced just how good a display it was.

Latics took the lead on the stroke of half time when a glorious 55-yard pass from Will Kinder released Jordan Bove (pictured) who took a good first touch before slotting home.

The first half had been a good mix of disciplined defending and inventive attacking.

Latics doubled their advantage midway through the second period when a piece of magic from Michael Brewster set up Hadyn Foulds who lobbed the Saddlers' keeper from 25 yards.

They tired in the latter stages, but defended so well that Walsall were restricted to long-range goal attempts as they rarely looked like getting a foothold back into the match.
