Death of Bob Richmond

1 August 2013

Latics lose diehard fan

Latics have been saddened to learn of the sudden death of fan Bob Richmond at the age of 80.

Though he lived in Lytham St Annes for the last 13 years, Bob still remained an avid follower of the club and rarely missed match commentaries on Latics Player.

Bob, who died at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, came from the Coppice area of Oldham and was a lifelong fan.

A solicitor by profession, Bob was still doing some legal work up to his death.

It was back in the 1960's that Bob became actively involved in the running of the club when he struck up a friendship with then chairman Ken Bates.

Bob helped provide legal advice, set up a Supporters' Club, organise testimonials as well as other fund-raising events.

Bob, who lived in St Annes with partner Joyce, leaves three sons and seven grandchildren.
