Johnson's joy

Manager's delight at new signings

Lee Johnson is delighted with his two latest acquisitions - left-back Joseph Mills and striker Danny Philliskirk.

Latics' manager (pictured) believes both players will strengthen his squad.

Johnson was especially pleased to have signed Mills who was played in the Championship for Southampton, Doncaster, Reading and Burnley.

Mills is unlucky at Turf Moor where they have three left backs vying for one spot in the team.

Johnson said: "It is no secret that I have been hunting to bring in a defender for sometime.

"I am grateful to Burnley for allowing us to loan Joseph who is a very good player.

"He is very quick, good on the ball and has plenty of Championship experience."

Johnson also believes Philliskirk, who has signed on non-contract forms, will be another useful acquisition.

He explained: "Danny is here on an extended trial and will be given the chance to prove himself.

"He is a very good footballer and will provide cover and competition for the forward places."
