Tribute match for Chapman

A host of former Manchester City greats will be honouring ex-Latics' player Les Chapman on Sunday.

The former midfield man, who made 263 appearances for Latics in two separate spells between 1966/78, has been awarded a tribute game.

The match, which will be played at Stockport County's Edgeley Park because of pitch work being undertaken at the Etihad Stadium, is in recognition of his 20-years' service to City, mainly as  their kit manager.

Two sides of City greats will be managed by Joe Royle and Brian Horton.

And the players on view will include the likes of Shaun Goater, Paul Dickov, Patrick Vieira, Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Andy Morrison, Jeff and Jim Whitley, Willie Donachie, Asa Hartford, Andy Dibble and Darren Huckerby.

Chapman, whose daughter Suzy manages Laticzone Study Centre at Boundary Park, made 749 appearances during a playing career spanning 21 years and which also included spells with Huddersfield Town, San Jose Earthqualkes, Stockport County, Bradford City, Rochdale and Preston.

He also managed Stockport and Preston before being offered the kit manager's job at City in 1992.

Tickets for Sunday's match, which kicks off at 2pm, are priced £8 for adults and £4 for over-60's and under-16's.
