Latics look to build on Port Vale victory

It was a great performance at both ends for Latics last weekend as Adam Rooney scored twice and Mark Oxley saved a penalty to set up their 3-1 win against newly-promoted Port Vale.

Latics will expect to pick up all three points against visiting Tranmere Rovers who have lost three of their four games so far. They were beaten 5-0 at home last weekend and have now lost their last eight matches on the road. In fact, Tranmere have failed to score in six of those eight defeats and as five of the eight Latics home wins last season were without conceding, an Oldham win to nil at 5/2 with the sponsors is certainly tempting.

With Tranmere leaking goals from all sides, a high scoring encounter is likely, especially as the Latics are averaging two goals a game this season with both sides scoring in three of four league matches. Since the start of last season, a healthy 10 of 17 games have finished with over 2.5 goals whenever Latics have scored at Boundary Park. Over 2.5 goals with Sky Bet is available at 5/6.

Latics have been drawing at half time in their last five home games against Tranmere.

Other reasons to bet:

There have been fewer than three goals against Tranmere in the last five meetings at Boundary Park.

Latics have won three of their last four home games against bottom-six teams like Tranmere
